The Little Things in Life

Now more than ever we are constantly on the go, constantly on the move! As girls, we have a lot to maintain and carry around throughout our hectic day… And, all can be found in the comfort of our own purses! Today, there are so many small, compact essentials created for girls to maintain their beauty and their best without adding weight to their already heavy purses! Let me explain:

Imagine yourself on the go, you know you’re going to be out for the majority of the day – whether it be because of work, school, plans with friends or family, or even just having a ton of errands to run – if you want to look your best, it’s definitely hard to maintain when rushing about throughout the day! A lot of times, we girls just give up, shrug our shoulders and let the worst get to us, let our hair get frizzy because the day is so long, or let ourselves smell of gross and sweat… And, sometimes, we just don’t care! BUT, we don’t have to settle for this, ladies!

I am currently obsessed with mini, compact products, they help keep the day going and they also keep me refreshed and feeling my best.

big-sexy1. Mini hairspray.

Now, I don’t have an ultimate favorite of these mini hairsprays – but naming some really great ones at the top of my head, there is Tresemme, Garnier, and the BigSexyHair hairspray! All of them come in less than half the size of your usual hairspray, and fit comfortably inside any ordinary purse. They’re compact, easy to use, and most importantly: convenient.

Why do I love hairspray? Well, I’m a girl who has a lot of hair, a lot of layers, and major side swooping bangs. It is absolutely difficult to maintain a collected, put together look when your hair has so much going on – so with that being said, I accept the use of hairspray as a part of my daily routine! Of course, hair falls flat throughout the day, so it’s good to keep a mini hairspray as a part of your in-purse essentials.

This one is kind of self-explanatory. I mean, come on! If you’re going to be out all day, I don’t care if you’re dressed up or dressed down, you NEED to carry around some deodorant. Sweat is inevitable, and also stinky. I used to carry around a giant, actual sized version of deodorant because I didn’t want to let my perspiration get the best of me… The problem with this was that it was so big, bulky, and inconvenient when it sat in my purse.

So, I’ve found and fell in love with mini deodorant! Just like the hairspray, it is small, convenient, and compact… everything you can possibly love about something that needs to sit in your purse all day!

P14705393. Mini sunblock

Whether spray on or lotion, this is a must-have if you are running around all day… especially if most of your day consists of you traveling outside! Do you want skin cancer? No, you don’t! If you’re walking around the city throughout the day, or even grabbing a bite to eat outside, the best thing to keep in your purse and at hand is a small, convenient item of sunblock.

I am super pale; therefore, I redden easily. The mini sunblock adds little to no weight to your purse, and does a lot more good than you can ever imagine!

For the most part, when it comes to mini hairspray, deodorant, or sunblock, I have no preference. Usually, I prefer to purchase the mini version of the essentials that I already have – so you can do that too, if you’d like! Or, go ahead and experiment with all of the other mini essential products!

Pastel Hair – In or Out?

We’ve all seen our BFF Kelly Osborne from E!’s Fashion Police rock her light purple, pastel colored hair!

More and more each day I’ve found that Pastel hair is so in. But we at Nothing Less Magazine want to get your insight on the newest hair obsession!

The first time I saw Kelly Osborne dye her hair light purple I was absolutely appalled by the look! Purple hair? Really? But, now, times have changed and fashion has been constantly moving forward to bigger and better things… To be honest, I’ve grown to LOVE pastel hair! I find it very cute, trendy, chic, and especially unique.

Pastel Hair has become MAJOR, so many girls today are dying their hair to rock this new look!

What is “Pastel Hair”?

For those of you who don’t know. Pastel Hair is definitely NOT your natural hair color. And, I would say that the goal of pastel hair is to not look natural, but to give more of a fantasy appeal to it. Colors range from blue, teal, pink, beige, grey, purple – and so much more! The trick to making these pretty colors even prettier is by making them lighter and even more vibrant. Every inch of hair, from the roots, is colored – so you better hope you get the color just right!

Keep in mind the pastel hair is NOT meant to look natural! In a way, the look evokes this type of other-worldly vibe from whoever is rocking their pastel hair color. But, it is important to ensure that the color is covering every inch of your hair – you do not want your natural hair color showing when owning pastel hair… it just won’t look as fresh and consistent!

How to rock it?

Okay, first things first. You need to know what color best suits you. You, as in, your personality plus your overall appearance. Those with a paler complexion can basically rock any color – but for best results you’re going to want to keep your pastel hair as light as possible. Even girls with tanner and darker complexions can rock this hairstyle! It’s all about knowing what goes best with your skin tone. Olive and beige skin tones always seem to work best with blues, and pale skin tones go best with the lighter shade of pastel colors.

The Good:
– Cute, unique, creative.
– Helps you stand out!
– Hair is an accessory, so coloring it just adds to your style and personality!

The Bad:
– Difficulty in coordinating certain outfits with your hair? (Ex. You don’t want to overshadow and overwhelm your fashion choices with your already outlandish hair color.)
– Too much time and money to keep up with filling in those roots!

What do you guys think?

Is pastel hair too out there? Or is it a cute way to showcase individuality and creativity?

And! If you’re considering dying your hair pastel colored but aren’t quite sure just yet, or don’t want to ruin your hair with hardcore beach and hair dyes – you can always pull a Katy Perry and wear a bunch of different colored wigs that match your style! Colored wigs are IN, and JUST as cute as dying your hair a unique color – just make sure the style shapes to your face, and the color coordinates and highlights your skin tones!

Clyde – Hair God

Hollywood’s “Mane Man,” Clyde Haygood has created some of the best hairstyles and designs, presenting his work through stars such as the Kardashians and Naya Rivera. Now, I know this is my second post complimenting the Kardashians’ style and look – but I’m merely giving praise to the people that have managed to make these women look presentable and trendy! I mean, they clean up exceptionally well, and that wouldn’t be the case without the help of artists like Joyce Bonelli (see post below) and the topic of today, Clyde Haygood. He is literally a hair god! He manages to create such full and unique-looking hairstyles that are both creative and gorgeous.

A part of being a celebrity like Naya Rivera and the Kardashians is maintaining perfect hair! I mean c’mon, the majority of the time we see these celebrities is when they’re looking amazing, and this is only done through the help of their style team.

Let’s take a look at some of Clyde Haygood’s best works and why we love them so much.

Naya's Pom-Pom Ponytail by Clyde Haygood

The Pom-Pom Ponytail!

Amazing! Why does Naya Rivera look like she has 3 times as much hair as I do? Thick and flowing, on top of that! The amount of teasing on my hair, with the addition of hair extensions, would still not amount to the precision and perfection found within this hairstyle. It looks effortless while still maintaining a completely chic appeal to it.

Clyde Haygood knows his clients, and accommodates to their looks – you don’t seem him doing Naya Rivera’s Pom-Pom Ponytail on someone like Khloe Kardashian. This look works because of Naya’s petite face, along with her tiny physique. The hair is big and bold throughout the ponytail, and the side bangs give a sense of alluring mystery that adds to Naya Rivera’s overall personality. The hairstyle also helps to accent her own facial features, highlight her eyes, slightly covered by the flowing bangs, and the deep hair color works to match the darkness of those eyes. Of course, I can see the Pom-Pom Ponytail on someone like Kim Kardashian, but not the same, exact style of Naya’s, maybe another version of it that would accent her own personal features.

“Ghetto Gorgeous!”

Who doesn’t remember Khloe’s side cornrowed hair on the most recent Keeping up with the Kardashians?! Aside from the drama that the episode had brought, Khloe was rocking these cornrows, paired with a fairly pink and perky makeup style created by Joyce. Love it! The best part about having the dreadlocks only on one side of the face helps to not overwhelm the appeal of the look – it would be a bit too much if her whole head was cornrowed. The style also conveys a sense of uniqueness that Clyde Haygood is known for – not many hairstylists will send out their clients with such a bold piece of work, but he knows just how creative and bold to make his hairstyles without overwhelming the entire piece. The cornrows help to keep the hair out of Khloe’s face, revealing her amazing cheek bones and dark eyes. Whereas, the other half of her face presents her hair as long flowing, draping down and concealing part her behind these wavy locks. An overall beautiful, intricate, and stylish masterpiece!

Kim is Blonde! by Clyde Haygood

Kim is Blonde! by Clyde Haygood

Who made Kim BLONDE?! Clyde did!

If anyone else has been keeping up with these Kardashians, they would know by now that Kim Kardashian has officially gone blonde. And we love it! Clyde managed to color Kim’s hair in a way where the blonde color isn’t too overwhelming! He adds some dark highlights to the blonde hair, allowing it to look more natural. It works! Kim looks better than ever, and rocks this hairstyle with all the help of Clyde Haygood. Where would she be without him?!

A lot of times, celebrities want a little bit of change in their lives, dying their hair to add a little bit of variety to their look. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t. In this case, Kim’s blonde hair worked, and there is a lot of detail put into this look so that she is able to maintain her new hair color! Without the dark highlights we would have completely lost Kim. The dark highlights help to coordinate with her dark eyes. And the combination of light and dark tones help to accent her exotic features.
